The first outbreak was first detected on the April 5 at Broughton Hall, this is a 30 bed commonwealth-funded nursing home and hostel in Camberwell.
Over the next seven days, 21 residents were affected and all had symptoms of salmonella-related gastroenteritis. After spoken to the families of the residents who died,
they are most concerned that their privacy be protected; they have been universally supportive of the staff at Broughton Hall and the care their relatives have received here.
Dr Lester said she was sure that the outbreak had now been contained following de-contamination of the nursing home’s kitechen and the food is being brought in for residents, there’s no evacuation was necessary.
I personally think this is a very bad tragedy for older people, they’ve lived for over 60,70 years and maybe they’ll never though of they’ll died caused by a poisoning.
After this outbreak, people won’t be trusting nursing home anymore. I think is better for all other nursing home to clean everything and be more careful on the food.
