Food Poisoning Case: Restaurant Faces Stiff Penalty

A committee investigating the food poisoning that caused 23 diners including children to fall sick at a busy restaurant in Madinah.

After the several food samples were taken by investigation, it found out the food contained salmonella.

Most persons infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. Though most persons recover without treatment, in some persons the infection can become systemic and spread to vital organs.

The investigators traced the disease-carrying germ to the fingernails of a worker at the restaurant, the report said. Out of the 23 people who suffered food poisoning four were non-Saudis. Twenty-one were discharged after investigations and first-aid treatment, the statement said. The remaining two cases required intensive treatment and hospitalization, according to the official.

The restaurant have been told to closed for five days investigations, but the displayed notice is written as “ The restaurant is closed for repairs.”

The municipal officials said they have already destroued a total of 4,000 kg of contaminated meat and fish after the raid. They also handed over 16 freezers and other equipment seized fro mthe illegal establishments to police for further investigations.

Starbucks China stops working with Mengnuie (poison milk company).

Is now better to stop drinking any milk now, unless it’s from some foreign brand.

STARBUCKS on Thursday said its 300-plus cafes in mainland China have pulled out milk supplies by Mengniu Dairy, one of the companies whose product has tested positive for melamine contamination.

Starbucks said that no employees or customers were sickened by the milk.

In a statement, Starbucks said it removed the milk from supplies voluntarily after it learned that Mengniu had confirmed that certain lots of its liquid milk were tainted.

Though we believe based on assurances from the supplier that the milk we received from Mengniu is not included in the contaminated lot, due to the serious nature of this warning, Starbucks has voluntarily pulled all Mengniu milk offerings until further notice,' Starbucks said.

Starbucks said it continues to work closely with Mengniu to further confirm that the milk it supplied to the company was not affected.

The company said it is working to find alternate milk suppliers until the issue is resolved.

On the other hand, Hong Kong have found out a lot of products are make by poison milk, Hong Kong government have said it will have to becarful for every milk product you eat.

I am from Hong Kong aswell, my relatives keep calling me from Hong Kong telling how bad the situation right now is and they asked me so many time to check the milk company before I eat any chocolate or stuff.

This has been a very bad tragedy for both Hong Kong and China, I wonder when will it stop this milk tragedy.

One case of food poisoning

One case of food poisoning

he family was hungry and Melissa helped the kids dig around the pantry to find a late lunch. After she had everyone else well on their way to grilled cheese sandwiches, she fixed herself a warm pastrami sandwich from the leftover pastrami in the fridge. It had been in the refrigerator for about 4 days. Everyone else had eaten the pastrami at one time or another since it had been opened, but she was the first to warm it.

First Symptom - Indigestion: The first indicator that something was wrong was the bad case of indigestion Melissa felt after lunch. She was playing a board game with the kids and thinking that she must be getting old if pastrami gives her indigestion. She took an antacid and waited for it to pass.

Second Symptom - Nausea & Vomiting: Within a few minutes, Melissa started feeling nauseated. She tried lying down on the couch to see if it would pass, but it did not. Within 30 minutes of the onset of nausea, she began vomiting.

Third Symptom - Diarrhea: Melissa developed diarrhea about an hour after the vomiting started. Both the vomiting and the diarrhea continued for nearly 12 hours straight.

Food Poisoning: Food poisoning is not really food poisoning at all, but really a food-borne illness from bacteria that grows on the food. Melissa ate the pastrami that she had heated in the microwave and gotten sick from some bacteria on it. We will probably never know exactly what bacteria she ingested, but the most common symptoms of food poisoning are vomiting and diarrhea.

Melissa became very weak from her severe diarrhea and vomiting. She lost over 10 pounds of fluid in the 12 hours she was sick. Such a sudden loss of body fluid results in dehydration and imbalanced electrolytes much like victims of heat exhaustion experience. Melissa had a severe headache, muscle aches, and cramps - all related to the dehydration.

Shock is a serious decrease in blood pressure from loss of body fluid. If Melissa had continued to be sick much longer, she could have developed a form of shock. She would defenitely have required hospitalization.

First Aid for Dehydration

Rehydration was accomplished by drinking water and sports drinks once Melissa could hold down fluids. In really severe cases (this case is probably severe enough) the victim may have to be rehydrated with intravenous fluid. It's certainly not a bad idea to go to an emergency room for weakness, especially when you think it may be from dehydration.

Sushi Bacterial?

Sushi Bacterial.

The food Safety authority says sushi is a perfect place to become a bacterial bredding ground, because it mixed with cooked and uncooked ingredients.

Sushi always have a look of delicious and innocent, but is it really true.

Campbell live team decided to test some of the Auckland sushi bar and find out the bacteria.

For sushi, except the rice, the raw food will have bacteria in it so it is susceptible to those bacteria that come in with those foods. We don't tend to refrigerate sushi, it doesn’t taste so nice, therefore bacteria can grow.

The team bought six take-away sushi from different sushi shop in Auckland and test what’s actually in it.

“In terms of ensuring sushi safety we publish educational material for food service industry which encourages them to keep their premises clean, to handle their food properly and to refrigerate foods to cover their foods to prevent cross-contamination,” says Roger Cook, for the Food Safety Authority.

Sushi has a short shelf life. By law if it has been on display for four hours or more then it has to be thrown out.

But after all the tests, the result come out very good. There’re nothing found in the sushi, the main reason of that is really because it have to keep the very right temperatures for sushi.

China milk poisoning

China milk poisoning

I think this is a the most serious food poisoning through this year, for anyone who don’t know what’s going actually, its better to read this article here.

There’re now found out more than 53,000 children in China had been milk powder poison in China.

There’re still 13,000 victims still remaining in the hospital and recently added four more children have died.

This is a very bad tragedy for all the children and all the company who have this milk powder for suppliers. The prime minister of China Wen Jiabao has visited children in the hospital and apologized for the food scandal.

Most of the victims are under 2 year old and at least 104 of those in hospital are now in a very serious condition.

There’re at least 22 other companies have become involved in the scandal and milk products made by the Yili, Mengniu and other froups have been recalled from supermarket shelves.

A three-year old girl in Hong Kong has been diagnosed with a kidney stone after drinking two glasses of Yili high calcium low-fat milk product for more than a year. Her symptoms were described as "mild". Tests are continuing on other infants in the territory.

In Taiwan, shops shelves carrying the Mr Brown brand of "three-in-one" coffee, in which coffee is mixed with sugar and milk, have been cleared.

In Singapore, the Chinese-made White Rabbit milk sweet has been found to carry traces of melamine and is being recalled, officials there said. Recalls of Chinese-made dairy products are now under way in Japan, Malaysia, and Brunei as well.

What is food poisoning.

What is food poisoning.

As the article say here, no one put any poison to your food, but the bacteria probably grew in the food in the fridge and that make you sick. Bacteria can be last for a very short time or it can be grow more seriously.

Food poisoning comes from eating foods that contain germs like bad bacteria or toxins, which are poisonous substances. Bacteria are all around us, so mild cases of food poisoning are common. You may have had mild food poisoning — with diarrhea and an upset stomach — but your mom or dad just called it a stomach bug or stomach virus.

You might think the solution is to get rid of all the bacteria. But it isn't possible and you wouldn't want to do it, even if you could. Bacteria are all around us, including in food, and sometimes they can be good for you. It's confusing, but one thing is for sure — the bacteria in the rotten leftovers weren't good for you. But you can learn how to avoid those bad germs in food.

Food poisoning may not found out straightly after you had the food, it may appear in few days, and is better to see people around you whom have eaten the same food as you and check if they have any sick or not. If they do, its better to find a doctor to check immediately.

Food poisoning killed Four.

Food poisoning killed Four.

This is an outbreak that an investigation found out three men and a woman aged in their 80s and 70s residents of a Melbourne nursing home died from food poisoning.

The first outbreak was first detected on the April 5 at Broughton Hall, this is a 30 bed commonwealth-funded nursing home and hostel in Camberwell.

Over the next seven days, 21 residents were affected and all had symptoms of salmonella-related gastroenteritis. After spoken to the families of the residents who died,

they are most concerned that their privacy be protected; they have been universally supportive of the staff at Broughton Hall and the care their relatives have received here.

Dr Lester said she was sure that the outbreak had now been contained following de-contamination of the nursing home’s kitechen and the food is being brought in for residents, there’s no evacuation was necessary.

I personally think this is a very bad tragedy for older people, they’ve lived for over 60,70 years and maybe they’ll never though of they’ll died caused by a poisoning.

After this outbreak, people won’t be trusting nursing home anymore. I think is better for all other nursing home to clean everything and be more careful on the food.
